Debrisan is a wound cleansing agent composed of dry, spherical beads made of a hydrophilic dextran polymer. These beads absorb wound secretions and remove bacteria, granular substances, and other debris. It's particularly effective for cleaning discharging wounds and has been used in the treatment of burns, ulcers, and other wounds.
The beads absorb wound exudate (fluid) and swell, forming a gelatinous layer that removes bacteria, degradation products, and inflammatory mediators.
